You have worked hard all year and it is finally time for you and your family to enjoy some well deserved vacation time together. Don't let your vacation have a negative impact on all the hard work you have done improving your fitness. Here are some ideas to help prevent you coming home from vacation carrying more than just your luggage.
Do Something Everyday
Engaging in some kind of physical activity everyday is a key component in maintaining your fitness while you are on vacation. Your daily physical activity does not have to be constrained to the gym or even a morning run. If you happen to be vacationing at a beach take your family for a walk beside the ocean. Walking for about a half hour in sand will bring up your heart rate and burn off some of the extra calories that people tend to eat when they are out of their normal routine.
If you happen to be relaxing in a city, find a coffee shop a mile or two away from where you are staying and go there to get your morning coffee. This makes for a relaxing morning and keeps both your body and mind active while you navigate through an unfamiliar setting. Another great family activity you can do is taking a hike. Find an easy trail close to where you are visiting, grab your daypack and hit the trail. Hiking with your family will create some great memories and keep all of you physically engaged.
